One year ago today I was working on the slab 2X4 tops for my Seller’s inspired bench. I am so happy I found Paul Seller’s masterclasses/blog/philosophy late last April. It’s added another wonderful aspect to my life. My current project is building kitchen cabinets in a craftsman style using many of the tips and techniques I’ve learned through forum participants and watching Mr. Seller’s wonderful videos.
Kitchen Cabinets (small bases): Building face frames and doors with mortise and tenon joinery (It’s amazing how fast and accurate you get with practice – i’ve probably cut 50-60 so far on the cabinets/doors/ end panels). Wood: Red Oak / Red Oak 1/2″ plywood panels
Cluttered “Lefty” Bench: 38″ high / 72″ long / 30″deep / 9″ quick release vise. As we know here, a cluttered workbench on the weekends brings richness to the soul unlike a clean work desk during the week. ***Notice the “Lefty” Shooting Board?
Project Wish list: It would be great to see Paul’s take on a garden furniture? bench, chair, planter boxes? I also saw an article years ago on a Stickley 301(??) dining chair he did with steam bent backs / that would be great.

Love to see finished kitchen. well done 😉Wow. That’s impressive progress for one year. I wanted to build our kitchen cabinets a couple of years ago when we built a new kitchen but I lost the argument on that one. I still have a dream of building the next one; if they come out half as good as this I’ll be a happy bunny. Looking forward to seeing more of this project as things progres.

How many cabinets you got to make?
What you going to use for a worktop?16 May 2014 at 1:16 pm #57188Matt that is very nice. I really like cabinets where the doors are set in to be flush with the face frame. It is a huge undertaking to fit out an entire kitchen and from I’ve seen so far you are doing an excellent job.
23 May 2014 at 4:07 am #57453Looking forward to a long Memorial Day weekend to progress on the kitchen cabinets. Here is the plan I’m working from. Google Sketchup used over the winter to make the kitchen plan. My goal is to have the base cabinets done in the next week or two.

Its good feeling when you have a joint licked. It will be easier every time you do it.
Hope you have old kitchen still installed. The other half would be going mad if not. 😀 -
