thought you fellow
Thorex enthusiasts would enjoy this!I had a basic double hard plastic faced and handled 712, pretty dull so I rasped up a new handle in some cherry (secured it with some basic cold rolled steel ground into a wedge) and also chopped the end off of one of my hard faces and epoxied on a bit of
Walnut to act as a softer face, let me know what you think!Attachments:

This is a recent aberration. I’m sure they’re working on the missing first post problem. In the meantime you can click on the Original Poster’s name and see the text of the post on their profile. Or so far that works for me.

16 September 2015 at 12:14 am #130526Hey EJ, the hammer looks great. I don’t have a Thorex, but I use a cheap mallet with not-too-hard rubber to pound projects together. Recently, I damages some edges of the rails on my Sellers shop stool. So even the rubber mallet was too much for the soft wood I used. I would think that the walnut you installed would be too much for most softwoods, too. If you use softwoods, have you thought about using leather instead of wood for the soft side of the hammer?
