    Nice, Dan. Did you do the ogee profile on the base with moulding planes? If so, how was it going across grain on two sides of the base? I haven’t tried cross-grain profiling with my moulding planes yet.

    I actually bought an ogee moulding plane and made a profile on the long grain, but it it didn’t turn out so well across the grain. I wonder if the construction grade pine is to dry and brittle for planning across the grain or I need to sharpen the profile blade better. I need to watch Paul’s video on sharpening molding planes again! So, I confess I used a router to make the profile. But everything else was completed by hand tools. These will be nice gifts especially if I can make the moldings myself!
