mate congratulations I still haven’t made one myself great work Mark
nice work Mark you’ll be needing a name stamp next at the rate you’re knocking things out
The main body and wedge are Tulip wood. The sides are Maple. The peg is just a softwood dowel with fine Walnut wedges inserted.
The iron is from an old Record 0102 I had. Which I have not got a clue where it disappeared to but have iron.
Bed angle 45 degrees, length about 7″ width 2 3/8″ and height probably about the same.
Works pretty good and is very comfortable in hand. I would call it a more of a block plane than a smoother.
I have bought a couple of 1 3/4″ tapered double irons off of eBay.
I will be having a go making more a full size smoother.
Nice little plane, Mark. The experience you gained making this will probably pay great dividends when you make the smoother. Can’t wait to see that one.
