Hi Forum Members!
I’m looking forward to buy a small portable vice since I don’t have a proper workbench yet but I still need a third hand in smaller projects.
I’d like to ask for advice on the following models, or on the manufacturers in general.
Second hand Record 51 Junior
Eclipse (Spear&Jackson) EWVP6
Faithfull FAIV34
Any other manufacturers, suggestions or feedback are welcome!
Thanks!

I built a small portable bench out of plywood, and clamped it to a larger table when needed. Worked very well for me to begin with. I still have the vise and might some day attach it to the end of the Paul Seller’s garden bench I built as a tail vise. Hope this helps. 🙂
18 September 2018 at 8:21 pm #551772Thanks for the tips! I live in Hungary so I can go for the English vices. What I really would like to know which brand seems to be more reliable? Eclipse or Faithfull? They are at the same price range and there’s also the old Record vices.

The V150B looks like a decent vice any so far I’m happy with it. The action is smooth and the table clamp holds the vice to the table firmly.
Thanks everybody for the inputs and advices!
