Hello all,
I have designed a table for a paying customer and built the framework. The table top will be glued up from many strips of different species of wood, and to avoid any wasted time or wood I would like to play around with the arrangement of the strips to get the colour mix right, ideally on a program that would allow me to produce a digital image to send to the customer for approval. Scalable dimensions that I don’t have to work out in my head would be a bonus.
I am aware of Sketchup but not familiar with it, does someone with more experience know if this could be my answer? I know I could even do it in Word if I had to but it wouldn’t exactly be easy.
Thanks for any advice, my design sketch is attached below if it helps.
Matt
Sketch up is great for modeling but I wouldn’t do any renders with it, you cannot produce photorealistic renders with sketchup. However you can use Autodesk 3ds max or Maya but I somehow don’t think you’ve even heard of them, I could be wrong unless you into 3d graphics. I’m thinking probably the most easiest way for you to do this and I’m counting you know how to use photoshop would be to take photo’s of the pieces and compile them into PS. without photo’s irrespective of what software you use you don’t stand a chance.
Hi Salko, missed your reply somehow. You guess right, those words mean nothing to me. I do have photoshop, it’s creaky but still works, I’ll give that a go.
Thanks,
Matt
