I recently found an old frame saw blade in hidden in granPa bak yard.. i derusted it and now it seems a good new blade for a frame saw. Teeth were badly shaped so i filed off them and now i have to re tooth the blade. I want to follow Paul’s trick :agood hacksaw cut will improve spped, accuracy and flies life.
My problem here is i cannot find an hack saw blade that cuts the steel…i tried Lennox and Grman made hack saw blade but nope..nada de nada..
I had the same problem with several brands of hack saw blades. They didn’t cut anything at all. Dexter (Leroy Merlin brand) blades in particular were absolutely useful, horrible.
At last I bought Bahco blades and they cut really well. Perhaps you could try with them.
Before going any further, I’d suggest that you price new frame saw blades. I suspect that it would cost less than the saw files that you would need to cut and sharpen new teeth on your granddad’s old saw blade but ,then again, it was your granddad’s.
