Hi I just got this place in almost mint condition even had the original side handle i got it for mainly for the shooting board but the blade keeps getting a jagged edge and I’ve honed it at 25 deg with a slight camber also the cap iron will pop off if I don’t tighten the screw to where its hard to adjust the depth i did disassemble the whole thing for a cleaning im thinking I might have did something to affect it thanks for any input
The T5 was intended for trade school use.
It came with a tungsten steel cutter so the teacher didn’t have to sharpen as often.. 25° May be too low an angle for the hard alloy. try raising it abit with a microbevel. As long as you stay below about 35-37° you should be fine.
Tungsten steel is just fine, it may have had its edge over heated and it’s become brittle
Reguarding the lever cap, make sure the frog isn’t too far back from the mouth of the plane, this can cause issues like you explained
