Hi,
A pair of saw horses I’ve made.
The length (65cm; 25.6″) was shortened a bit to make them easier to transport. The heigth is 55cm; 21.6″.
The legs are recycled pine wood from a pallet that came from Japan.
Finished with Tung oil.

Saw horses are great bits of kit you can rip and cross cut all in a way that a handsaw should be used as you are pushing downwards not up or straight across like you do in a vice. Your knee is your vice.27 January 2014 at 9:14 pm #26688Thanks for all the comments. I’ve learned some things while building them, as one always learns by practice. It was fun. They are indeed very solid and stable, a bit heavy too. Thanks also for Paul’s clear instructions on how to make them.
Very nice work on the horses, Rick.
I use my sawhorses for a lot of things in my shop. Sometimes a sawhorse, sometimes a stool, sometimes a step ladder, and other times a makeshift platform. Mine are sturdy like yours, and I am sure glad I built them that way. I will probably build a third…

Heheh. My wife is superstitious, so she has me scratch under the bumper of my car with a key whenever I buy new one…

People say bad luck goes out thru that small “defect”.
Or people envy less defective objects.
Or in some oriental cultures, they say only God is perfect so man’s work must be imperfect, deliberately making a blotch in their work.
Or something like that… who knows? 🙂 -
