Hi Ron,
My sincere apologies if I came across in a derisive manner. Â Nothing could have further from my mind.
Definitions of a jig may differ, but I think of them as being intentionally crafted working aids such as brackets, neck alignment jigs, routing templates, etc..  Hence my defining such brackets as a jig/jigs.  IMHO emphasis needs to be placed upon economy of movement whilst using hand tools.  Less time spent making  jigs and more time actually crafting end product.
I’ve always found the simplest method for reducing vibration – when dovetailing pieces of such size – is to gang materials upright or horizontally within vise or beneath hold-fast.  Working edges can readily be staggered (Kept just outside working parameters) or aligned in unison, depending on crafting methods in use. 3/4″ – 1″ stock doesn’t vibrate as readily as imagined (Especially if ganged together) when being dovetailed by hand, because saw cuts are comparatively high speed, but vibration can prove problematical if a saw’s tooth count is excessively low, or it’s in need of sharpening.  🙂
