Does anyone work on one of the Scandanavian workbenches? Also knows as the Tage Frid or Frank Klausz style. One of those with the L shaped front vise? I am thinking about moving to one of those types. The idea of the front vise with no bars in the way is interesting. I would then use my iron vise for the tail vise which would be a more simpler build then the traditional way its made.I have only worked on the P.S. style bench.
Millions of Swedes, of both genders, have used this type of workbench, as woodworking used to be a compulsory subject at school, every one of which would have rows of these benches. When comparing to other types of benches, I really think that the tailscrew of the one at school was its best feature. The series of benchdog holes and the length of the screw always allowed good locking of boards
