    Knowing me I could use both ways on the same box. 🙂

    I think the tails should be on the front and back so they match up with the tail of the drawer divider. The drawer divider will look strange from the front if it has a pin on it instead of a tail.

    I agree, as said I will be putting my tails on the front and back. Just personal preference for me. 😉

    Thanks Robin for the Sketchup design. That is very helpful. WUDWORX has an extension for dovetails for Sketchup that works quite nicely. Just GOOGLE Wudorx and that will take you right to the download site.

    Very true Ken. I just rewatched the episode and the pins on front and back still look better than I thought they would! Now I have to think some more on how I want mine to look.

    I think it also depends on what wood you are using and whether you plan to paint the chest. From all the photos I’ve seen, and looking at Paul’s chests in the workshop in NY, the student boxes, and all the painted pine boxes have the tails on the sides. Any of the hardwood versions where you can see the wood grain have the tails on the front (& back)

    Me being just different what about lapped Dovetails like draw fronts?
