Hi Everyone,
You may have noticed a few tweaks to the site today. Hopefully these will be helpful and make things clearer.
We do know that often there are people who don’t like change so we urge you to give it a few days. We think it is better.
If you have any problems feel free to reply here and we will take care of any glitches that occur.
Best,
Joseph
30 March 2014 at 4:30 pm #41417Well done Joseph. The site now has a more natural feel to the navigation. The slight aesthetic changes are welcome as well.
Thank you.30 March 2014 at 4:55 pm #41500I join the chorus in saying it is a nice improvement. Like was said above,
its nice that the menu bar across the top with the drop-down menus is to hand at all times no matter how far you’ve scrolled down on the page.31 March 2014 at 12:07 am #42344I prefer the new look/function also. Not so jumpy when one is trying to get somewhere.
Cheers
3 April 2014 at 12:06 pm #47102Improved usability! Thank you!
P.S. I noticed – if I’m not wrong – that login page is not on a secure channel (HTTPS); are data (e.g. username and password values) sent with no encryption at all? This should be fixed. User profile pages are on insecure channel too.

Could anyone “steal” my username and password values and use or “alter” my account? I’ve tried to force TLS channel, but I always get a redirect to HTTP.Attachments:

It occupies too much of the screen and is not really necessary on iPhones and the like which can scroll to the top of the page with a single click anyway. I did post this in site tech support forum before seeing this thread so sorry for the duplication. As a professional web developer and technologist I understand that it is difficult to work a site to suite many different screen sizes (and many different users!) but I do feel that this approach is going to make the user experience less pleasant on small screen devices.
Hope you don’t mind what I hope are constructive observations on the site.
Cheers
Bill
3 April 2014 at 3:42 pm #47271Related topic: on Paul’s blog, the old “series” tags don’t work anymore, so anyone who saved them (like the workbench set: http://paulsellers.com/series/building-a-workbench/ or buying good tools cheap, etc.) can no longer find those series without searching by topic title. Don’t know if that was intentional, but you can’t navigate to those entries as a set anymore, as far as I can tell.
Whitney,
They’re available here:

Click on “videos” and scroll down for each episode.
