I needed someplace to store all of my drawing equipment. So I expanded on Paul’s box making lesson and came up with this small version of a Shaker lap desk. I used pine except for the breadboard ends of the top and there I used maple. Finished with three coats of amber shellac and wax. I like the tone of the amber but it readily shows built up areas of finish. Lot of fun and good practice for what I have learned so far.
Thanks for looking.

You are so bad!!!!
Why?
I made my first box and gave it to my wife. Of course it was a tad bit too small for her, so, she wanted me to make another one. I thought I would make one in oak with the sliding top. I just bought the wood this morning. However, this evening just before I am writing this, I was looking at your Desk Build and who happened by? You guessed it? My wife. And who now wants your Desk Build? Thanks buddy!!!! lol
