Not much shop time the past few days, but I did finish a couple of small projects. Both are reproductions of items I saw for sale on eBay; first is a dowel plate mounted on a small block which is based on one originally made by Wm Marples, and second is a holder for scrapers. I also took delivery on my long awaited “Made in England” Record 53 vise, cleaned it up and got it mounted on my bench. What a great vise! The Jorgensen I was previously using doesn’t even compare.

The pictures are very clear. I usually just snap one with my phone. My wife is the photographer in this house. She just pointed out some pictures that were printed in National Geographics this week. ( I accused her of bragging). I know people post the pictures to show off thier projects but I like to snoop around in the background and see other peoples shops and work benches. ?
What will your doweling jig be used for?
Thanks, Sandy. I didn’t build the dowel plate for any specific project. Before, I just used a piece of scrap sheet metal with holes bored in it when I wanted to make draw bore pins. I just saw that Wm Marbles original on eBay & thought it would be fun to recreate. Same with the scraper box. And I enjoy seeing other peoples shops and benches too!
