    I have the 10-049 which works fine. If you go for the 10-049 you’ll want to get the 11-041 blade for it.

    The 5901 comes with an extra blade, but is 300% the cost of the other. Same body construction.
    I’d buy three of the 10-049 for the same price.
    The blades last forever and are easily resharpened.
    But, you already knew all this. 🙂

    I think the folks at Big Red know about Paul….that price is a few dollars higher than a few months ago…maybe the exchange rate has changed?

    I have both and can tell a bit if difference between the two, however both do the job…

    Bigredtoolbox has them for $12.50 shipped to the US on ebay.

    Get the 5901 and order a box of 50 blades for $10.90 at Cincinnati Surgical (item no. SM4211) so you have 10 liftimes of blades.

    I bought both and found that the 5901 was a more positive lock then the 10-049. It could have just been the knifes that I got as I only bought one of each. It was not a huge deal, but having both, I opted to keep the 5901 and give the 10-049 away.

    I also have the 10 -049 and pleased with it, haven’t tried the 5901 so can’t make a comment on it.

    I bought two boxes of the blades from Cincinnati Surgical so I guess I plan on living two life times. Is that possible? I plan on being buried with my tools, So If reincarnation is a possibility my new Mom is going to be busy on the day she has me. Especially with my Bandsaw. lol
