Thanks for the link. I finally won a No. 4 last week which I hope to receive this week. I’ve been trying to pick up a jack plane too, but have lost a couple auctions on them already because they got to be too rich for my blood. I’ll be keeping an eye on this one today though, thanks!

sold for $70… seems a bit high, but I dont have much to base that price off of…
The #4 1/2 and #5 1/2 go for more than the #4 or #5. I paid $49.95 + $11.84 S&H for mine. If you like the extra width and weight of the 1/2’s – here is the eBay search to find them:
(stanley,record) (5 1/2,4 1/2,51/2,41/2) plane -(“plane iron”) -(“surform”) -(“lever cap”)
This gives you listings that:
- must have either “stanley: or “record”
- must have any of these: “4 1/2” or “41/2” or “5 1/2” or “51/2”
- excludes “plane iron” and “surform” and “level cap” to see only full planes
