I finally completed this guitar after leaving it on hold for almost a year… It’s made from larch heartwood with a santos mahogany (I think) top. I used black grain filler and dark shellac on the top before french polishing the whole body with platinum shellac. The neck is pre-bought, but I’m going to try building my own necks eventually.

That is beautiful! I want to make one for my son. Where did you get the neck from?

Also, I believe it’s Santos Rosewood.

    Thanks!

I got three necks from http://www.eyguitarmusic.com/ when they had a sale a while ago.
They’re inexpensive but the quality is pretty good.

Great work Rolf, I love the top. I would also like to make a guitar for my son as he’s guitar mad but I frankly don’t know where to start!

Fantastic project. There’s a lot of specific techniques for instrument building. You did very well.
