Hi everyone,
It is getting more and more difficult to organise the videos in a way that is really easy to access as we add more videos every week.
I am testing out a new page that may help somewhat in this and I would appreciate any thoughts you may have on it: https://woodworkingmasterclasses.com/new-dashboard/
I am aware that the count next to each project is incorrect (it is currently counting each video twice).

Yes that’s making it much easier to get to the vids without scrolling the whole page through.
great! Thanks!Caerlynn
20 May 2015 at 7:23 pm #127285Hi Joseph,
I like the addition of the drop down menu on the left and the sort feature. I think I would miss having the short descriptions on the overview page though. I use those to navigate to a certain technique or step that I want to see again. Although the pictures do help with that.
A tagging system covering techniques and stages in a project might be a solution but that’s a lot of work of course.Robert
Hi Joseph,
actually I think your current dashboard is fine. Perhaps, I would add item paging. eg. on first page of screen 4 latest projects are shown, then page 2 next 4 other projects…etc. Same logic could apply for subitems/episodes under specific project.
Cheers
Nikola20 May 2015 at 10:02 pm #127288Hi,
My concern is that after some more video’s the drop-down menu will become to long.
I like the current dashboard but maybe it can be enhanced with a quick access list?Korneel
I think the new dashboard work great, but as rnieuwenhuijs mentioned it would nice if the short description were there as they are now.
Hopefully more people chime in and give they’re opinion. Maybe Paul should do a very quick blog post, because I’m sure he has time :), mentioning the new proposed format and that opinions would be appreciated.
thanks again for all the work and education you guys provide.
24 May 2015 at 4:39 am #127299The only thing I didn’t like about the old layout was that there was no sort option. However, the new layout looks great, and the drop down menus are quite handy. 🙂
28 May 2015 at 1:38 pm #127368Hi all,
I like the layout of the current dashboard, how projects are separated from the “Tool and Technique Videos” by the tabs.
The drop down on the NEW Dashboard is convenient for quick access. The sorting is also very helpful.
As others have stated above, I would miss the short description of each video, especially when looking for some technique to use on projects.Another note: possibly add start date to the projects if you go with the NEW Dashboard. This will aid those of us fairly new to woodworking and trying to progressively work through the projects for skill building. I think that might be useful.
MarilynP.S. I can probably say this for others as well. We appreciate all the work that goes into providing a place to learn woodworking.
29 May 2015 at 7:27 pm #127392The only thing I have thought on the current set up is that there could be a ‘ next episode’ button. Of course from your point of view, the organising of all the files is much more of a headache. I will have a proper look at the new set up and speak up if needed. Thanks for your efforts
