I got the panes for the bookshelf today, and now it is ready. I thank everybody for inspiration and advice.
The middle board is dovetailed as I planned.
The back of the backing has lots of historical notes left by small children, and I decided to leave them as it is.

I’m curious, how did you do the dovetail housing dado joint on the middle board? By hand?

It was done by hand. The housing dado with a chisel and the dovetail with a saw.
At first I thought to make a jig, but when I started to make the joint it became obvious that no jig is needed.
That looks really nice Misha. It matches with the wall cabinet in the back of the picture.
Are those glass sliding doors?
