This is a new one for me, yesterday I placed an online order with a company.
Order went through, and I received a conformation email. Ten minutes later another email saying they needed to do an ID check, and would I scan my debit card and utility bills and email them back to them so they could complete the order.
I sent an email back to them back and said not a chance, and to cancel the order. Another email arrived saying this was just with new customers and all would be fine. Yeah right, I tried to phone them, no answer. I phoned my bank, but the payment had been processed. Ok after more emails, I finely got the order cancelled now I have to wait up to ten days to get my money back.
Not the best days shopping eh.
6 September 2013 at 11:11 am #18141Ken you have done the right thing. There are quite a few scammers out there who put up adds particularly on eBay that look genuine but when you get to the payment section you are directed somewhere else that looks like eBay but it isn’t. If your purchase was through the site I’d put a message through to them and I suspect they will already be aware of this vendor. For what it is worth try to make payments via PayPal you at least have some redress if it goes wrong.

It still amazes me how many people would fall for it.
Hope you get your money back good luck7 September 2013 at 1:18 pm #18232Ken, If you paid via credit card, I would call the CC company and make sure the charges are cancelled thru them.
