Those hollows & rounds certainly would make a great Christmas gift for me from you guys 😉 , but my point was those both of those businesses are taking back orders in this not so great economy. So hand tool working must be on the rise. I get a little verbose and lose my point a lot. 😉
HaHa, yeah we could even work wood with the tools we collect, as well as the ones we really need, Its a great thing this freedom of choice. 😉
Hear, hear! A boat project (in a year or two) would be great. I’m also loving the hollows and rounds discussion. Being a bibliophile, I got Matt Bickford’s new book on hollow-and-round cut moldings even though I don’t have any of the planes yet. It’s really well-done, as you might expect from Lost Art Press. He’s also got a lot of basic to intermediate tutorials on his blog site: http://musingsfrombigpink.blogspot.com/. Matt’s an interesting businessman, by the way. He doesn’t recommend that you buy his planes. He strongly recommends that you tune up oldies, or even build your own. I recently saved a lot of money based on his advice by buying an old wooden no-fence rabbet plane for $10 (and developing skill) instead of a modern moving fillister such as most of the current commercial rabbet planes.
Thanks Kevin. The menu system is currently acting weird for a bunch of so be aware of that if nobody responds. You kind of have to back door thru the system to get to the forums.
