I was at the show today and another fantastic day it was. It really is a playground for us woodies and surprisingly there was a school excursion as well great to see the young ones getting on the action. I bought some fantastic Camphor Laurel the annual rays in it are just so beautiful it is very unfortunate that this timber is considered a weed and is being culled at a high rate. Still they do charge a premium price which makes no sense to me. I also bought a fantastic book on Japanese joinery, this I really want to master well. It has no step by step instructions just clean pictures of it which is fine by me, there were a cople of other books on reproduction antique furniture but I over spent on timber so I couldn’t afford it. The hand tools on display were fantastic as well and I especially like the brass bottom moulding planes. I also purchased a pro shapton ceramic stone, they claim it’s better than the Norton I’m currently using so we’ll see if it lives up to their claim.
Anyone in Qld should try to attend this show it really is worth going to. BTW I saw a chair selling for $2600 I can’t see it ever been sold.
