Quite a sight to behold, Dave! Congratulations! This will go to my bookmarks as an example of design and build skill, coupled with tenacity.
With a workbench, tool cabinet, and tool chest, you’re set!
Serhly – I keep the tools that are used every day in my cabinet, things like chisels, marking knife, 4 1/2 hand plane etc. The chest is basically my place for everything sans a few which I keep at the bench.
sidreilley – The chisel rack is screwed to the carcass, its semi permanent, but should I ever want to remove it, 4 screws just need to be removed. You could build it so it would ride on the rails easily enough.
Carlos – patience is what it takes, lots of patience 🙂 I still can’t believe its finished. But on to other things now.
David fantastic work on your tool chest.
I must say you have a very nice collection of tools as well. 😉
It looks really nice Dave, you did a great job! I know it must feel great having it finished.
I still haven’t started. I think I am going to do a 7 ft tall cabinet instead. I am now making a small box that will hold my chisels, files/rasps, and layout tools. It will fit under the right half of my planing bench. I have worked with racks and shelves for so long, I think I would have a tough time adjusting to a tool chest. If I was20 years younger, maybe.
Dave that is looking GOOD!!!
It will last a life time and then some. Its a great felling when you build somthing and its quality. Makes you proud. I allways told my boys each day as they went out Make yourself proud.
You did that with this.
