When you start adding curves to you work you will eventually need a set of trammel points for swinging the large arcs. I designed this set to be shop made with a minimum of materials.
The heads are hard wood, not sure what species. The beam is pine and the wedges are maple. The heads slide smoothly and can be locked up tight with the push of your thumb.
There is more information on my blog as well as a drawing.

I have a set of metal trammel heads and one head can also hold a pencil handy if you want to alter arc without marking wood permanently.27 April 2014 at 11:48 pm #56518Thank you Mark. I own a set of starrett trammels that will take a pencil as well. I’m working towards an agenda on my blog and wanted to offer an option that was accessible to everyone.
I’ve been working on my time management skills. The trick is to be able to focus on one thing at a time only. Completely focus on the task at hand, finish it, then move on. Its not been easy. I usually have 100 things going through my mind at any given moment.Just wanted to thank you for sharing this Greg. In the past I’ve made do with an off cut of MDF with a pin at one end and a hole drilled for a pencil at the other. I’m gonna build me one of these when I have some time . That’s after I’ve built a couple of your gauges, and finished my cabinet, and sorted out my workshop properly, and then there’s my website to update…
My time management leaves a lot to be desired at the moment 😀29 April 2014 at 6:02 pm #56584Thank you Sandy and Jon. Glad you like the trammels. I said I’m working on my time management skills and I sure have a long way to go.
