Greg that turned out really nice, where did you say the plans came from and how hard is it to tension the blade ?
Thanks for sharing !
Steve
Thanks Denise ,Steve and Ken.
Steve, I did up the plans myself. Mine is based on the Gramercy version. There is a link in my first post and Mark posted the actual plans later in the thread. It tension really easily. So easy I have to be careful not to over do it. Once the slack is taken up its just a couple more turns and its ready to go.
Barry, Dave, Steve thanks.
Dave…it’s twice the size of a coping saw. So its for larger cutting tasks that would be tough to do with a coping saw. The seat for the bench stool for example.
Steve…not sure about impressive but it does cut very nicely.
Great Greg) How heavy is your saw? Can you use this saw with one hand? How good does it follow the curves? Thanks again)
Cheers Serhiy
Serhiy…thank you. Not sure about the actual weight. But definitely a one hand saw. What the photo does not show is the the outer arms are tapered from 3/4″ at the bottom to 3/8″ at the top. I may make a stretcher out of pine, as was suggested in this thread, and see how much of a difference that makes. All test cuts were done with one hand and was quite comfortable in use.
Thanks David…I’ll put it to work this weekend cutting out the seat for my bench stool.
Ok…after finishing my saw I brought it into the house and hung it on the bookshelf so I could study the lines. The more I looked at it the clunkier it looked. So I’m off to the shop for some more shaping. Either I’ll ruin it it make it better. Either way I’ll post the failure/success.
