Hey everyone – just wondered if anyone knew what this tool is for? I spotted it during my usual hunt around some of my local antique shops. Just never seen one of these before and have no idea what it did, decided not to buy it but I was intrigued by it……any ideas?
Hi Fraser,
I found this link http://www.record-plane-reviews.co.uk/record-plane-no-735.php that should help with what that plane is used for.
It’s a fibreboard plane mainly for putting chamfer on hardboard.
As you have probably already found out.
Not much use for woodworking really.
Here in Uk during the 1950’s 60’s and 70’s the scourge of hardboard was everywhere.
People covered up panel doors ballastrades everywhere in the home imaginable.
I have uncovered some lovely doors and the such in the past doing renovation work in East London.
