I guess I should have updated this because I received a nice veritas box for christmas and inside was a scrub plane 🙂 It’s probably my favourite tool right now as I have been having alot of fun scrubbing down 3/4 pine to make 1/2 inch thick pieces for all these dovetail box projects I’ve been building 🙂
Great! I’d say your scrub plane issue has been resolved. Nice gift, Merry Christmas.
P.S. I may be telling you something you already know. Unfortunately, it’s not something I thought about until I saw a video a year or so ago. The scrub plane is also great for dimensioning boards rather than ripping. I can easy take off a half inch or so real fast with my scrub plane. This is especially convenient for long boards. I’d always thought of a scrub as a plane used for thicknessing alone.
