This is my first video where I make use of the techniques that Paul has been teaching us. It’s not a teaching video (Paul handles that just fine), but a showcase for hand tool use (there is about 15 seconds of a table saw at the beginning).

I think Paul would be happy with my dovetail work πŸ™‚

P.s. Ken, if you happen to see this maybe you can give me a clue on how you embed a Youtube video here. As much as I tried, nothing worked. You seem to have it down. Thanks in advance.

Just copy and past the youtube address.

Thanks Greg, for posting my video πŸ™‚

Still not sure what’s going on. I copied and pasted the embedded code from Youtube, but it would just show up as ‘pasted text’ in the page. I’ve got another video, so I’ll try again in a day or so.

Thanks Ken (and Greg). I just tried with a new video and it worked fine.

I was trying to be too smart, and was posting the embed code from Youtube. Guess this site’s software knows about Youtube and automagically adds the appropriate code.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Marty,

I loved the video. Nice work on the project and the video. What plow or rabbit plane are you using (the blue one)? And do you like it. I’m in the market for one.

i'd prefer to make it myself

    Thanks Denise.

The rabbet plane is a Record #778 () that I bought ~20 years ago. I like it, and it works well. Unfortunately they stopped making it about 10 years ago.

If I had to buy a new rabbet plane today, I’m pretty sure I’d buy the Veritas version.

Marty Great job you are a lot braver than me to make a video well done.
I have some of those Marples chisels. They have a fine bevel on them great for Dovetails.
Also looks like you have a good set of tools green with envy.
I eagerly wait for the next episode, πŸ˜‰

    Hi Mark,

Those Marples chisels are really nice. I bought my set probably 20 years ago, when they were still made in England.

    Hey Marty,

The project and the video both look great. Good job.

I’m curious … how is that clamp secured (mounted) to the bench? I use mine like that but, I usually have an “F Clamp” or a holdfast securing it to the bench top.

    BTW, where’s part 2? πŸ™‚
