Hello,
I’d like to ask if anyone has experience with Warrington hammers of the many brands that are on Ebay: Footprint, Draper, Faithfull, C.K., Silverline, and others.
In particular I’d like to ask our U.K. members since I think these are UK brands. Are these brands that people over there avoid like the plague because of quality issues? Or are they good enough, so to speak?
I’ve been looking for a nice old Warrington hammer but prices get up there in a hurry.
Thanks!
In for this one, I’ve been looking as well although on the U.S. side.
I have to say, I’ve had a couple of duff Silverline tools bought online and avoid the brand these days. I have a couple of Warrington hammers, both Stanley, both bought used from eBay and they are very nice in the hand. Faithfull seems to be a quality but budget brand and I have a plane and a hatchet of theirs I am delighted with.
I can’t comment on the other makes you mention but I would also say you could do worse than Forge Steel available from Screwfix if new budget tools bought on the high street are preferable.
Good luck
Gareth
