I’m in the process of building the tool chest project in walnut. I have the carcass and bottom glued up, not together yet. It’s already getting pretty darn heavy. I did go a little taller and a little longer, both a couple of inches. Here’s a picture before the glueups. I would imagine that you would not want to be moving it very often especially when it’s full of tools.
I understand that’s not too scientific, but hope that it helps.
Weight depends on material. Pine plus tools will not be bad, heavy but not bad. I say that based on moving my fully loaded joiners chest around which is much larger. You will want good handles and latch for the top. That said I dont think this design was really meant to be all that mobile since the drawers dont lock.
