Hi everyone,
like many here, I’m building the new workbench design. Since I’m building it faster than the rate at which new videos come out, I’m also looking at the old workbench series to figure everything out. However, the new well board with a lip and groove is not explained there. I can do the groove with my plough plane, but any thoughts on how to make that lip?
Hi Stijn,
the lips like that are made using a rebate plane (rabbet plane in US) usually, but I believe you can use a chisel + router plane to achieve the same (it’s not going to be easy, but doable :)). if you don’t have a rebate plane Paul has a video how to make a “poor man’s” version of it.
Good luck!
Hi Alexander,
thanks for the advice. I finished my workbench a week ago, and I did use a rebate plane I recently purchased. Took quite a while to get there, so I’m curious to see if Paul has a fast way to remove most of the waste.
One side went really well, and with the other side I had small step-downs, because the blade wasn’t protruding enough at the side of the plane. I had to correct it with my circular saw.
