Hello everyone. I recently purchased a Woden W78 rebate (rabbit) plane on eBay. I had been wanting one for a while because of the dual rods for the fence, as well as the wooden knob near the front of the plane; both features my old Stanley 78 does not have. The Woden is in really nice condition, but is missing the depth stop and screw. Does anyone have an idea where to find replacements? I’m sure either a Stanley or Record depth stop would work though I don’t know about the thumb screw. If possible though, I’d like to find the Woden parts so as to keep it original. Any help is appreciated!
Hi Gary,
I’m not aware of anywhere you can get replacement parts, other than eBay. I think you’re unlikely to find just the depth stop and screw, and may have to buy another whole plane, making sure the bits you need are present.
I managed to find a complete one a while ago but it took a while until one came up. Most sellers won’t know what’s supposed to be present so can’t say what’s missing. Just look at all the photos very closely and ask if anything’s not pictured as the seller might not think the small parts are photo-worthy.
They’re pretty common on eBay so hopefully you’ll be able to find the parts for cheap. You could always sell on the other parts you don’t need.
George.
