I made some mods to it, but the throat is too large where the blade sticks out of the sole,
and the shavings are getting stuck in there, also I think the iron is too straight across the middle,
the bevel is good, easy to sharpen Just have to get more accurate with the shape.
Here are some pics.I had to cut the plane in three sections because when i first finished it the blade was too close the the toe of the plane. So I cut it into three sections, rearranged the pieces and then glued them together, when it dried I reshaped the plane completely, and it is closer to what it should be. I must have done something wrong when i made the piece for the throat ?

You must be logged in to view attached files.19 November 2017 at 4:57 am #374334I reshaped the iron, much better, I also made the relief deeper, shavings still clog up a little but it is working more like a plane now than a scraper, going to heat the iron next.
Need some oil, can motorcycle oil be used, how about a wood burning stove to heat the iron ? -
