It seems that every wooden item you see here in Bulgaria has been riddled with woodworm at some time in its past. I’m looking at my new workbench as it takes shape and wondering if it’s going to end up in the same state at some point down the line.
I’m wondering if there’s anything that can be done to prevent worm infestations in wood. I think I heard somewhere that keeping the wood dry helps. Is there anything that can be painted onto the wood to protect it, or some other means of prevention?
Many thanks.
You could try something like this. I’ve used it on oak furniture and it seems to be fine although I assume it has some chemical(s) to prevent the woodworm in it, and how they may affect the wood long-term I don’t know.
Thank you for the reply.
I found a product that can be painted onto the bare wood surface prior to finishing. It is thin, colourless and soaks into the wood.
