So I’ve got the woodworking bug. I’ve spent months collecting tools some needed a good fettling to bring them back to useable condition but that was all part of the fun.
For my first project I built my workbench, renovating and fixing an old 1950’s vice in the process…great!
OK now down to business starting to practice my dovetails and tenon joints, and then…wham!Last November I fell and broke the end off my elbow and damaged the ligaments in my wrist, that is my left elbow and wrist and yes you’ve guessed it….I’m left handed. So I was in plaster from my fingers up to my shoulder for 6 weeks all over Christmas too. I couldn’t do a thing…..my other half even had to cut my food up for me to eat.
But the plaster came off two weeks ago and the elbow seemed fine not even stiff. Wayhay! back on the tools……no such luck! The damaged ligaments in the wrist which were kept nice and snug and immobile whilst in the cast, once released fought back. I’m still unable to hold or grasp anything with any force and without a fair bit of pain and according to the physiotherapist it could be another two months.
I’m gutted! and very very frustrated, as all I can do is watch Paul’s videos and dream…
So just a word of warning……BEWARE OF CRAVINGS!
I fell because I had my eye on an old shop here in York England that sold Fudge…Yum! But with the fudge shop in my sights, I forgot I was stepping off a curb and came down like a Rhino felled with a Blunderbuss. And before you ask…..NO I DIDN’T GET ANY FUDGE!

15 April 2017 at 8:24 am #311129Sorry to hear about your accident. I have visited York and can imagine the fudge shop in question (-:
Look on the bright side though, you’re heading towards recovery and I assume you’ll be unstoppable when you’re eventually able to do woodworking again.
I have health challenges, becoming more and more arthritic as the years pass. I also have a cataract in my right eye caused by an accident I had several years ago so don’t really have much sense of 3D at the moment.
Keep on boxing, as someone told me many years ago!

5 May 2017 at 10:00 pm #311747Thanks for the encouragement guys it’s very much appreciated.
It’s now early May and I’m only just beginning to regain my grip albeit for short periods before it aches like mad and stiffens up the following day.
But on the plus side I retire in 4 days time so once I’m back to fitness I can devote more time to my woodworking.
Happy Days!
