So I ordered my wood from the local timber merchant, thought I had made it clear that the sizes were the finished sizes but obviously not. Just been to collect and they have planed down from those sizes so they are significantly smaller. Will I still be able to make it work (and end up with a strong workbench)?
in the end you always need adjust the building plans to your exact sizes.
I also made some mistakes so my workbench became a little smaller and works perfectly.
Also i first just ordered the wood for the laminated top and legs and built it in parts.
but following the exact dimensions given by paul is always difficult, also depends on your planing skills (you will take more of if you are less accurate…)
Thanks a lot for your reply – I actually forgot all about this post as when I checked the measurements again it turned out the wood was correct after all! But yes, it will be a little shorter than planned as I didnt make any allowances in the length for cutting and planing the edges. Still, as you say it will work perfectly 🙂
