House Number Plaque by Colin Whiting
This is a house number plaque made for my girlfriend’s house, which is my first serious attempt at doing a mostly hand tools only woodworking project. The lighter coloured wood was recovered from a pallet, which I think is redwood, the edging and characters are made from mahogany. The lighter wood section is 3 pieces edge jointed together, with the mahogany border rebated, mitred and glued in place. The characters where made from the same piece of mahogany as the edging and were cut out using a scroll saw, hand finished and glued in place. Due to it being located outside it was finished with 3 generous coats of Danish Oil and mounted using keyhole plates rebated into the back.
