As near as I can tell the blade is the same size as a Stanley 7. Any aftermarket 2 ⅜” blade should work as the frog is the same.
16 January 2020 at 5:09 pm #645140I get the ones that Paul uses at Harbor Freight. The 24″ are 9.99$ regular price and are often on sale. I believe Paul has a video about strengthening them with a bit of wood in the rail and adding plywood to the jaws. I haven’t regretted these in the least. I was able to get 5 of them for the price of one Bessey.
11 January 2020 at 3:17 pm #644231I weighed the same decision when I started and chose the veritas. Simply to put the money difference into other tools. I sharpened it to my liking shortly after getting it and haven’t looked back.
17 June 2019 at 7:55 pm #581894I actually switched from the rag in a can to paraffin wax a la Rob Cosman and many others. This way I can use it on all of my tools wooden and metal alike. I now keep my rag in a can at my sharpening bench to put a light coat of oil on the tools after being bathed in water during sharpening. Also, I can pick up a four pack of paraffin sticks at the supermarket for just a few dollars rather than having to head to the hardware store for 3-in-1 oil.
5 May 2019 at 5:05 pm #558098I’ve been looking at the AI chisels and like what I see. Now if only I can find them in stock in the US…
Thanks for recommendation.
