Hi Alan
This my be a little late but was just looking over a few of the posts.
I bought a pack of 5 oak boards 27 mm X 160mm X 2.1 mt sawn from scawtonsaw on eBay for £135, good quality.
I have made a couple of projects from first order.
You do have to dimension them up to requirements but easy enough if you rip them down to size first.Have a look, I have used them a couple of times now.
Cheers
Phil, Had a look at site and at the course. WOW I wish this was around forty years ago when I was at school.
Old woodwork teacher didn’t have the time or inclination to teach as I remember he was always outside smokingThink you should be pushing this towards the high schools of the UK also.
My son is about to start high school this year so I have done the open evenings of the local schools. Not one of them gives this kind of simple hands on experience. The course is informative, educational and rewarding.I made two spatula with my son over four years ago and he loved working with the saw and spokeshave. Mum and Grandma still have, and use the spatula regularly. Although I think Grandma is about to frame hers ( only grandson )
Please keep this going, even if it only inspires a handful of young people to pick up hand tools it will be worth it.
Regards to all At WWMC
