We often did this on horses for on the job. Put a 2×6 across the lower brace. Then a plank between the 2 horses and you’ve got a short scaffolding. Every time something can do double or even triple duty. The less extra stuff you have to bring along!!!
Just never put dovetails on a saw horse before!!!!LOL
Thanx for liking the design!!!

Nice looking horses people!!! :|) Nice to see wood getting reused. Wished I had found a source for mine!
I splurged and went to a big box lumber, hardware, grocery mart!!!LOL
I took the liberty and tweaked “my” design abit. The flimsy finger pinching, unadjustable adjustable metal ones. Lil’ Bro had in the garage just wouldn’t cut it for my planned mini Paul Sellars work bench build.
I used 2 top beams. So I can clamp 2×4 material between them. Also so I could attach a wider surface for kind of a bench top. I want to be able to take them apart for storage and transport. Probably not kosher but I used some crude dovetails to aid in attaching my end pieces. Then put a screw into each dovetail.
They’re kinda rough in the joinery. The 1st being the more crude one. It was tough clamping material solid enough on those wobbly metal finger pinchers.
Able to use the first horse for a more solid platform. The 2nd came out better!
Hope I can get my pics to upload!!!LOL
That’s my bench material cut and stacked in the 1 pic.
Thanx
Chuck
