Hi folks,
I’ve been doing some research on the Disston tenon/back saws so I can make some more educated purchases online for vintage tools. Does anyone know the difference in time period or quality for saws with a brass back compared to the steel back? I had read that brass was much less available after WWII, and so those are more likely older. Any truth to this? I’d love to look for something pre-1940 as I’ve read those are of the highest quality. Any input or links to more information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks all,
Kevin
