It will be after Christmas before I start my first project “The Wall Clock” simply because I desperately need to finish home renovations which were started back in August this year. We hit the last room (thank god), the lounge yesterday… had to remove 3 joists and 30% of the floor boards due to a combination of dry rot and woodworm.
Anyway back on topic… since I have a few weeks before I can start the project I’m watching over and over the project videos, always with a glass of tonsil varnish (for creative purposes), in front of the woodstove whilst tother-arf is watching “Im a celeb” Get ME out of here!
In between project videos I’ll skip around the internet looking at tools and stuff 😉 which in turn led me to search for clock movements, which is the reason I started this topic in the first place.
I’m not sure if anyone has posted a link to anything similar but I thought I would share the resource just in case no one has. The company is in the UK and is called Bude Time Enterprises Ltd… their prices seem to be very fair.
22 November 2013 at 11:51 am #21997Thanks for that Dave, I have bought mine from Axminster they have a shop not too far from where I live I paid £9 each for 80mm dia . They do not have such a large variety but I think they could work out cheaper than Bude when you add Vat and delivery
22 November 2013 at 12:46 pm #22010Thanks David… never thought of looking at Axminster. Its good to have a comprehensive list of resources. I like the idea of having “choice”
Just an idea, maybe we could have a resources section under projects where members can add links to resources we use for our projects!
Just a thought if any admin read this post.
4 December 2013 at 11:34 am #23007I’m in the same boat of not being able to start my first project yet. I have to get my creative workspace set up first, which means “de-junk” my basement. I noticed in the Lee Valley catalogue, here in Canada, that they have clock movements.
4 December 2013 at 12:08 pm #23008Hi Linda… I’m itching to get making… unfortunately, the Dutch Barn we erected in the summer and which is going to be my workshop is still full of furniture whilst we finish home renovations. Good luck with your first project. I look forward to seeing the result.
4 December 2013 at 8:43 pm #23023Hi Dave the Dutch Barn will make a great workshop , has it got a good solid floor?
5 December 2013 at 11:15 am #23084Hi David. The floor is timber. For the floor, we upgraded to 35mm boards and added extra bearers. It sits on a concreates base which we poured 6 inches thick… so its prety solid. We chose the dutch barn style because of the extra head room which will be great for storage.
