Hi guys,
I’ve now got to a point where I have far to much wood that needs to be organized. Anybody got any ideas for wood storage. I want to make some kind of racking that goes halfway along the back of my shed. So I still have room in the corner for my toolbox. Which will eventualy be raised and on wheels.
Cheers

Or Shop Notes magazine had a really nice plan for a small rack on wheels a couple of months ago that hold plywood and smaller drops. I’ve got a copy of it in my shop. I’ll find it and post the issue number later today.

How’s it going? Looks like your workshop and wood stash is coming along nicely! I was re-organising the racks here at the workshop only yesterday! If it’s of any use I can take a few pictures of them and post them up here?We have one for the narrower boards so that we can put wood of the same width in a stack with the tallest at the back, with some dividers to stop the stacks falling over sideways. For the wide boards, we slot them in so just the edges are forward, with dividers to hold them up as well…. Not sure if that’s clear without pictures…

I have a rack that hangs from the ceiling of my small shop, I’ll post a photo later today or tomorrow if you’re interested. It’s made of 2×4’s (USA) glued and screwed to the rafters. I needed someplace indoors to store wood and off of the walls as the walls were (are) not finished at the time.
Cheers Kevin, but i’ve sorted it now. I would like to see a photo though. Just because I like to look at workshops. I just secured a large panel of pine to the wall and floor for the wood to lean against. If I had space I would store it flat but I don’t. Put up some shelves as well. Regained tones of space.
