I live in Belgium too (West-Vlaanderen) and indeed there aren’t much shops for quality hardware. I assume by hardware you mean hinges, locks, handles and stuff? I buy nickel-plated hinges at my local hardware store. For all the rest, I order online from a dutch web shop:

I’ve been there once, and they have an amazing store. But it’s a long drive. They also have shellac in flakes:

I dissolve them in alcohol myself. It usually takes a night to dissolve. You can choose the strength but I usually go with a 2 pound cut, which is more or less 24 g/100 ml.
