Mexiquite,
I haven’t done this, but, I might approach it this way.
Buy a small piece of steel or brass shim stock (auto parts store)and cut out a small patch to bridge the hole all around by 1/2″ or so. The shim should be thin enough so that when glued over the hole the blade will still fit into the handle slot, say 0.10 to 0.20″. Test the fit of the combined thickness in the handle slot. Roughen both the blade and shim and clean with Acetone, then glue the shim over the hole and clamp tightly. Wipe the squeeze out from both sides and let cure. Flip the blade over, center punch over a firm (not wood) surface and drill a new hole.
Hope this helps.
Best,
Craig
PS It might be easier to pre drill the shim stock before glue up and clamp the shim stock firmly to avoid lots of excitement.
