Hi,
I just asked Paul and he says he has a full set of the old Henry Taylor Acorn gouges back in the US and they are the best he’s ever used, but it’s hard to know about the new ones, including their edge retention, without trying them.
We have extensively tried and tested the Hirsch gauge very recently which is cheaper than the one you listed for that size and has a very nice finish and good edge retention. He reviews the wider 35mm version, which I would recommend if you don’t have another gouge as the extra width is useful, here:
