Hi,

You can clamp a long length of wood next to the groove to use as a saw guide?

At some point you’ll need to get a plough plane though.

Get an old one, like a Record 44. You should be able to pick one up on eBay with cutters for £40-£50 or thereabouts.

No need to buy a new one, they are too expensive.

Or look at The Vintage Tool Patch on Facebook, there is a weekly auction. Good stuff and good prices.
