Having spent way too much time trying to flatten the final back cm of FOUR Stanley 2 3/8 plane irons (2×5½, 1×4½ & 1 No7) ALL of which are hitting in the centre, with the front corners not contacting the DMT extra course plate.
I’ve ordered one Ray Iles replacement & tomorrow I intend taking a ball hammer to the most used of the four on the grounds of nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Intent is to place the iron on a flat piece of pine & give it multiple taps, trying it on the diamond plate each time to check for progress.
If it breaks, it breaks…
