If you’re in the US or Canada, you can use http://www.woodfinder.com to find some suppliers near you. Terrific resource. Your local craigslist.com site can also be a great benefit (usually under materials).
Hearne Hardwoods is pretty well known if you’re in the Baltimore/Philly area: http://www.hearnehardwoods.com/
Farther west, in central PA, I most often use Irvin’s Sawmill in Shirleysburg, PA: http://www.sawmillonline.com/ The service is just okay, but the prices are great. They’ll also S2S for you for a nominal fee. Of course, if you’re anywhere in the central PA area and you can’t find wood, you haven’t gotten out much. Seems like there’s small family sawmills around every other corner.
